The greatest treasure you can bequeath to posterity is to make the most of the present. It is about 'seizing' the day to ensure maximum productivity. Like the age long maxim, "Today is a prelude of how tomorrow would be'. This implies that if you really want to maximize today, you ought to have started the day before. One word clearly describes this, and it is planning.
The journey to maximizing your day begins by breaking your day into clusters. Depending on what suits you, you could have four clusters with six hours in each. Then, have your daily activities fix into these clusters. It is equally wise that you make room for emergencies. This should be structured in such a way that you can still get back on track. I need to add at this juncture, that while you may not be in control of all factors, yet your reaction to them would go along way in affecting how you maximize your day. Also, a perfect model of maximizing your day does not just appear from the blues. You arrive at your own ideal model after trying out a lot of approaches; just be optimistic and open to change.
For those in urban centres, the hustling and bustling of city life requires that you be on top of your game. Whatever you will be needing the following day should already be prepared and assembled today. It is advisable that you set your alarms thirty minutes earlier than when you actually intend to wake up. This ensures that you don't wake up "hurriedly". Sleep is very sweet. Most people keep snoozing the alarm because they want to rest a little more. When you finally wake up, first thing first, connect with the Divine: thank God for giving you the privilege of being alive, meditate, and then commit the day to Him. This too should have been clustered into your day to ensure its not done hurriedly. Take warm water, and if you like, add lemon to it. It helps cleanse your system. And if you're like some folks, a low pitch music playing helps to set the mood for the day.
"What next?" You ask. Exercise the body. It doesn't have to consume your time or sap your energy. A little stretch here and there will do. You can reserve more for weekends. Nonetheless, make exercising a lifestyle. Seek medical advice to be well advised on what suits you best.
Do I need to say this? You need to have a good shower. Breakfast is good. Except there are reasons why you couldn't, skipping breakfast is not good. Evaluate yourself formatively as you transit from one cluster to another. Hardcopy dairies or the notepad on your mobile device would come handy for this. A summative evaluation of all clusters at the end of the day would reveal how you have fared.
You can maximize your day if you are willing and ready. Your day is God's gift to you, make it count.
