Arise means wake up; stand up; open your eyes; take your place; to come to an awareness of what is happening. Rom. 13: 11-12. On the other hand, to shine means to manifest; to reveal; to standout; to glow; to illuminate; to burn to a point of drawing attention. Rom 8:19 says, “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God”. Therefore, arise and shine means stand up and manifest; wake up and take charge; open your eyes and take your rightful place. If you want to shine, you need to arise first. Luke 15:17-18, “And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
