WHO AM I? A QUEST ON IDENTITY (CONTINUED)

"Who am I that the LORD of all the earth would care to know my name..." You remember that song. You are not an accident! You are here to fulfil purpose. First as a human being, God is deeply concerned about you. When David could not stomach this depth of Gods love, in awe, he cried, 'What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that you visit him?' God is so conscious of you that long before you were born, He had determined your parents, place of birth, interest and wrapped all these with opportunities that will lead to your fulfillment in life. Ah! God is mindful of you. God has many thoughts towards you; none of them has an evil colouration. They are precious! WHO AM I? A QUEST OF TRUE IDENTITY

"Who am I?" is one of the important question anyone conscious about fulfilling purpose should be asking. Basically, there are two dimensions to this question. The first bothers on inferiority, that is, "who am I to be this honoured or who am I to be this appreciated?" While the second bothers on identity. This latter part will form the thrust of this post. The keyword here is identity. So, what is identity? Identity is who you are. It is the way you think about yourself, the way you are viewed by the world, and the characteristics  that define you. David Benner, defined identity as "who we experience ourselves to be - the I each of us carries within". What defines your identity? Many a times, people define their identity by their culture, language spoken, gender, family and friends, media, their interest or hobbies, and a whole lot of others factors.
