GOD’S DEPOSIT IN YOU: KEYS TO A LIFE OF RELEVANCE

Our relevance in life is dependent on how fruitful we are. What is needed to be fruitful and to remain fruitful is seed (treasures), and they have already been planted in you by God Himself. We are privileged as humans, because it is being humans that made us qualified to carry these treasures; the angels don’t possess these treasure.  No wonder the Psalmist exclaimed,

 “what is man that thou art mindful of Him? and the son of man, that thou visiteth him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands: thou hast put all things under his feet:”  Psalms 8:4-6.

The reason why God made you an earthen vessel and put treasures on the inside of you is again confirmed in Psalms 8:9, “O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!”

God has placed treasures inside you to show the excellency of His name. This is why He deliberately put treasures of various kinds in humans, so that through the use of these diverse treasures in diverse manners, one major thing will be achieved: the excellency of His name. As the singer sings; the drummer drums; the gifted writer writes; the artist draws; the orator speaks; the administrator organises things well; the counsellor enlightens, the name of God should be glorified. The treasures on the inside of you is to the praise of God.

START USING THE TREASURES NOW!

One of the major reasons why God has not only permitted you to have this book with you, but to also read to this stage, irrespective of other engagement calling for your attention is because of this: He wants you to start using the treasures now. Now is the right time to begin using the treasures you carry as an earthen vessel. Someone said, “yesterday is in the tomb, tomorrow is in the womb, today is what you have”.  I Believe that. However, because you may say today is still fresh, there is still so much time, or there are lot of hours before it is night, I want to say even though you have today, you are only sure of now- this present time. You can’t guarantee what happens in the next minute. Hence, the need to start where you are now with what you have now.

The call to start using the treasures now is a clarion call to fruitfulness.  Therefore, when you don’t begin to use the treasures now, you will be uprooted. God has promised to uproot whatever and whoever is unfruitful. 

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away:and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth much fruit. John 15:2.

Please note the clause, “he taketh away”. That means a lot. Firstly, it means that God has no business with the unfruitful. No time for discussion or dialogue, even when granted audience, it is to declare judgement to the individual. The story in Matthew 25:28-30, explains this well.

Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall be given abundance: but from him that hath not  shall be taken away even that which  he hath . And cast the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

God has no business with the unfruitful because not only does He not see reasons for unfruitfulness, but also because unfruitfulness is a direct disobedience to His command: Be fruitful. Secondly, God takes away the unfruitful to give the fruitful more opportunities of fruitfulness. By taking away the unfruitful from the land occupied by both the unfruitful and the fruitful, the land becomes occupied by the latter, while the resources and nutrients shared by both becomes enjoyed by the fruitful alone.

Another reason why you must start using the treasures now is because you remain ever-green as you become fruitful. The secret to remain fruitful is to continue to bear fruit.

The branch that bears (produces, brings forth) fruits(results), God purges (cleanses, sanctifies, enables) to bring forth more fruits (more results).The two servants who were profitable were given more resources to enable them become more productive. Perfection is the product of consistent practice. Even employers of labours require your working experience beside your certificate before offering you employment. The certificate can be likened the gifts or treasures, while the working experience is likened to the results or fruits.  The latter validates the former.  What the husbandman man needs is fruit, and so He patiently waits for it.

You must start bearing fruit now because you are not growing younger. That you are not growing younger is not only a fact, it is the truth. It is a double-edged kind of truth, that humbles and awakens you. It humbles you, making you to see how many years  and opportunities you have allowed to slip by, and it awakens you, by making you to realize that after all, the sun has not set yet.More can still be achieved if you start now. My final charge to you is simple: start it now.
