When Simeon saw it, he
fell down at Jesus’ kneel saying, depart from me, for I am a sinful man O Lord.
For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of fishes
which they had taken: And so also was James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
which were partners with Simeon. And Jesus said to Simeon, fear not: from
henceforth thou SHALL CATCH MEN. And when they had brought their ships to land;
they forsook all, and followed him.(Emphasis

The
purpose of Christ approaching you in many ways is not only to make you saved
and preserved for eternity, but also to make you a fulfilled person. Simeon’s
career was fishing, however, God still had a wonderful purpose for Him which
was to make him a fisher of men.
For I know the
thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not
evil to give you an expected an end. Jeremiah 29:11
It
was the acceptance of His purpose that made Simeon enjoyed real fulfilment, And they departed from
the presence of the council rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer
shame for his name.
Acts 5:41
The
purpose of Christ changed his life entirely because he accepted. Many are
refusing to corporate with God’s will for their lives because they are myopic;
they cannot see into the future. The promise in Job 8:7, “Though thy beginning was small yet thy latter end should greatly
increase ” is for those who will
follow and obey God’s purpose for their lives. To those who will accept His purpose for their lives,
God is saying:
A little one shall
become a thousand, and a small one a great nation; I the Lord will hasten it in
his time. Isaiah
60:22
God
is saying His purpose for you will be fulfilled in your life time, not when you
have transcended to the other side of eternity. He also said in Isaiah 58:14, “If you delight yourself in Me, by accepting
my purpose, you will ride upon the high places of the earth and be fed with the
heritage of thy father Jacob”.(Emphasis mine). When His purpose for you is
accepted, you become an eternal excellency and the joy of many generations.
Many
would readily accept God’s will for their lives, but looking at the path they
will tread, and because they do not see victory in sight, they decline. They
have suddenly forgotten the age long proverb which says the patient dog eat the
fattest bone. How I wish they knew that we walk by faith not by sight. They are
not aware that the One calling them makes visibility out invisibility. He did
it during creations, and can still do it again.
The
writer of the book of Hebrews in verse 8 of Chapter 13 says:
Jesus Christ, the same
yesterday, and today and forever.
In
as much as it is the end that justifies the means, whatever constitute the
“means”, such as pains and sacrifices, are not comparable to the reality of
Christ when it is being fulfilled. When you accept Christ purpose for you, you
become calm and not threatened by someone else’s success. Realizing that His
ways are not your ways, the assurance of a fulfilled life is there if you are
working based on His purpose for you. His purpose for you is unique and
exclusively yours. You
have a part to play in His purpose.
Wherefore be ye not
unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Romans 5:17
There
are millions out there who are living testimonies of accepting Christ purpose,
you have heard and read about them, it
is not fiction. These are very true. The
Lord is the potter, while you are the clay. When His purpose is accepted and
fulfilled, you become the reality of a glorious destiny. HIS PURPOSE FOR YOU IS
YOUR MISSION ON EARTH. IT IS THE DESTINY YOU ARE IN EARTH TO FULFIL. His
purpose for you a mystery awaiting your discovery, so ensure that you discover
it.Having made known unto
us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath
purposed in himself.
Ephesians 1:9
His
purpose is mystery because when you compare the present reality to what He
reveals as His purpose, they are far apart; they seem seems unrealistic. That
is why it is likened to a mystery. To the mental reasoning of any mortal, it is
logically incomprehensible. However, the Word says:
For since the
beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither
hath the eye seen O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that
waiteth for him.
Isaiah 64:4
When
you accept His purpose and wait on Him, the purpose will be established . Since
it is His purpose, believe what He has spoken even before you see it
materialize.
Mystery
transcends into reality at the dispensation of the fullness of time. Ever
since the fall of man, God Almighty had
planned to redeem the fallen man back to Himself. Some prophets of old were
privileged to know this plan of God. However, this plan of God that was not
only a mystery to the world, but also to the prophets who prophesied about it
was birthed at the fullness of time.
But when the fullness
of time was come, God sent forth his son, made of a woman, made under the law. Galatians 4:4
One
of His revealed mystery is:
That we should be to
the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. Ephesians 1:12
When
the people see what He had made of you accepting after accepting His purpose ,
they will glorify His name. “That we should be to the praise of his glory”,
means to become the very reason for which His name is glorified. When the
rejected stone becomes the cornerstone, it has become “the praise of His glory”.
God
revealed His purpose to one of His own.
Then, the word of the
Lord came unto me saying, Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and
before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee
a prophet unto the nations.
Jeremiah 1:4-5
2
Samuel 23:1 described God’s purpose for a man whom He called the apple of His eyes:
Now these be last
words of David. David the son of Jesse said; and the man who was raised up on
high, THE ANOINTED OF THE GOD OF JACOB,
AND THE SWEET PSALMIST OF ISRAEL.
(Emphasis mine)
The
purpose of God for you had been predestined even before you came into the
world. They are precious purpose which you are on earth to fulfil.
Thine eyes did see my
substance, yet being unperfect: and in thy books all my members were written,
which in continuance were fashioned, when
as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto
me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more
in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with thee. Psalms 139:15-18
God
declared His purpose for the life of Cyrus in Isaiah 45:1-3
Thus saith the LORD to
his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations
before him; and will loose the loins of
kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall be shut; I will go before thee, make
the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut
in sunder the bars of iron: And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and
hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which
call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.
Your
whole essence of living is because He gave you life. The better life you’ve
always longed for is in His purpose. Accept His purpose completely and life
will not abuse you. Dr. Myles Munroe said, “when the purpose of a thing is
unknown, abuse is inevitable”. You have
just one life to live, live that life fulfilling God’s purpose.
