But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions , do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 2 Timothy 4:5
In fulfilling ministry, another important condition is to, DO THE WORK OF AN EVANGELIST. An evangelist is primarily concerned with soul winning. Doing the work of an evangelist in the light of what the scriptures is saying here is that you should go out, bring people and breed them. Not only are you supposed to bring the people and breed upon them, you are also required to employ the principle of team work in working with them. Doing the work of an evangelist according to Galatians 4:19 and 2 Timothy 2:2, also travailing, impartation, among other things. Any ministry that revolves around you will not see the next generation! There is no true success without a successor. Whatever is your “ministerial” calling, reaching out should be your focal point. It is noteworthy that your gifts, whatever they may be, are instruments for your ministerial fulfillment. As a matter of fact, in your gifts, lies your ministry; both are interwoven.
Any individual determined to fulfill his or her ministry, must be ready to make full proof of such ministry. That is actually the high point of this profound revelations. The first three point are prerequisites for achieving the fourth and final point, which is MAKE FULL PROOF OF THY MINISTRY. The secret of making full proof of your ministry, aside from the above mentioned points is what Peter said in Acts 6:4, “but we shall give ourselves continually to prayers and to the ministry of the word”. You cannot minister the word except the word has been ministered unto you. You cannot minister, until you have been ministered to! 2 Timothy 2:15 talks about rightly dividing the word of truth. This could also mean being able to know which scriptural quotations to be applied to whatever challenge that confronts you. As much as God is determined to help, be ready to help yourself by doing what is require of you.
