For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish, foolishness; but unto us which are saved, it is the power of God . 1 Cor.1:18
Just a mention of the word, “cross”, the next name that readily comes to mind is Jesus. This is basic, however, there is more to it. A large number of people are aware of the cross, but very few have sojourned to that old rugged cross. Those in this category are really lost, because until you are saved, you are not safe. It is to them that Paul said, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish, foolishness; but unto us which are saved, it is the power of God”.
Jesus Christ is the central theme of the cross, except He’s your Lord and Saviour, the Pearl of the cross for you may be far fetched. The Pearl of the cross connotes that which is very precious and highly valued about the cross. Indeed, everything about the cross of Jesus Christ is a pearl, both the one hanged on it, and the bounties which it offers. It is not just about the cross but the one hanged on it. What an amazement, that the dear Lamb of God left His glory above and bear it to dark calvary. He was hanged on the cross, not for His sins, “because in Him is no guile”; He went to the cross for you and I. He gave His precious life, which in itself is a pearl.
Many have been deceived to believe that the vicissitudes that they are passing through is their cross. Unfortunately, you hear many, including Christians say, “this is my cross”. Barrenness, failure, terminal illness, etc: your cross? These negative experiences are not your cross, and they can never be. It is His will that all be well with you, hence, He nailed these negative experiences to His own cross. “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross.” Col. 2:14 That was why He proclaimed loudly: It is finished!
The cross is four-sided, pointing towards the north, south, east and west respectively. No matter where you are, and how far you are lost in this passing world, the cross is nearer to you that ever. Salvation, healing, deliverance, and all that pertains unto life and godliness is embedded in Jesus Christ. As you allow Him to reside in and preside over your life, The pearl of the cross becomes your eternal heritage.
You can allow Him into your life by completely surrendering the lordship of your life to Him. Let him become your Lord and Saviour. Then locate a bible believing church in your neighbourhood where the undiluted word of God is preached and start fellowshiping with them. You life definitely will never remain the same. I assure you.
